Interested in a new install for your heating and/or cooling system?

  • Heat Load required
  • At the location of installation

Service Description

In 2015 the British Columbia building code added a requirement under section 9 that a Heat Load calculation must be done prior to an install. This can take as little as an hour but up to a full day or more in complicated instances. This code is called the CSA F280. Prior to a free quote, proof of a certified heat load calculation will need to be given. If you do not have one, we can do one for you billed at our regular hourly rate of $120/hr. The calculation is a beneficial tool to help you see your home efficiency in sections. For example if you replaced all your single pain windows you could use a much smaller furnace to maintain the same comfort. With a heat load calculation you receive a specific "value" (or less loss) so you know how fast the repayment window would be. This gives the installer the correct sizing to meet the required minimums of heating at 22C in living spaces, 18C in unfinished basements and 15C in heated crawlspaces. That is found in section 9.33.3.1 Air Conditioning is sized to a minimum of 24C with a CSA F280 heat load calculation.
